The laboratory of Physiology of Animal's Behavior was organized in 1964 by L.S. Gambarian for investigation of functional and anatomical basis of instrumental conditioning reflexes. The main field of activity of the laboratory is: Mechanisms of the animals learning and memory in the aspect of the brain philogenetic transformation. The method of conditional reflexes as a learning model leads of paradoxial result: phylogenetically old structures (basal ganglia) are more important in conditioning than younger ones (limbic system). It may be suggested on existence of two learning systems (S-R learning and cognitive learning or hard and flexible learning systems) in higher mammals.
